Let There Be Light!

It's been three Christmases we've been in this house and every year we want to get our Christmas lights up and get them up early to ring in the season. Happened? Not that I can remember. But this year, the last week of November brought some pretty fantastic weather..rained a lot...but when it stopped, there were blue skies, sunshine and a lovely, fresh feel to the air.  All five of us ventured out to support JC in his endeavors...

Getting started...
The kids had a lot of wiggles to get out of their system...nobody was sick finally (except me, but who cares about that!?! We can go outside!) and it seemed when we were well enough to play outside it would rain too much to enjoy it much! So, they took to bikes.

And climbing on the tiny little wall between our driveway and our neighbors yard. This is one of James' favorite past times and one he is passing down to Ben, it appears.

But it wasn't ALL play for the kids. That's right, we make our kids work for their festivities!
Here, Bethany does one of the things she does best...helps her dad.

James can't leave all the fun to his sister and quickly steps in to lend a hand (and one of those zippy things that holds things in place)

Meanwhile, Ben is pretty carefree 'cause he's gettin his scoot on (newly mastered skill...though worded like that, it sounds more like something a bad dog would do on your carpet...)
JC coaxed him over to help though and he got right into it.

Didn't he (and the kids) do a fantastic job??? Our neighbor even stopped by to say that there is a fine line between being festive and making your neighbors look bad.
I am proud of JC for his work on this and very glad that we were (I was) sane enough to take the time (allow him to take the time) to do it this year! It's always a good moment for me when we can get to things like this and actually enjoy it.

It has been such a glorious thing to catch a glimpse of the lights through the front door or windows at the front of our house...they shine right back into the house as well. I love this time of year, all the twinkling lights...I know that's really the least of all the wonderful things to love about Christmastime but it is such a favorite!
Thanks, honey! (and babies) Our festive-ness makes me very happy.

Very beautiful! The kids kept bugging Matt this year to put ours up, but he ran out of time and then we went to Idaho for Christmas. I hope next year will be the year for us. The kids just love it and it really helps "feel" like Christmas. :) We had lots of snow this year so that helped bring in the feeling.
