Today Is Monday

The kids have several books by Eric Carle and love them.
You know Eric Carle...his books vomit bright colors at your face when you open them?
Well, yes, that is him.
Anyway, his hyper-active abstract approach to children's books are a hit with my bunch. Particularly one called "Today Is Monday."
It contains a little song in which a meal is mentioned for every day of the week.
And that is the entire book.
And this guy is filthy rich I am sure. ANYWAY, like I said, the kids love it.
I decided it would be fun this summer to dedicate a week to following the book by making whatever was listed for each day on the corresponding day. I know, it is a really far-fetched, super creative, kooky idea, right? :) Give me a break, I am still getting the hang of summertime fun.

So, here is our version of Eric Carle's Today Is Monday!

THE END

P.S. ...except not the end because there are more cute pictures...

James eating roast beef.
I just like that I have documentation of the kids actually eating dinner.
Of course, we ate a lot of stuff this week that we usually wouldn't haha...

James eating chicken.
You will notice...most of the pictures are of James.
He is our biggest eater right now.
And...he sits across the table from me instead of next to, so it's an easier shot.

Here's the chicken I made.
It was...a lot of work. And...I kind of messed it up in more than one way.
But it was pretty good.

And, last but not least...
All the ice cream pictures! Happy day!

P.P.S. This little fun project ended up being way less awesome and cutesie and...complete (aka missing entire days)...than I intended. BUT I decided to share anyway. It is a testament to how fun...yet very human our summer has been! :)

P.P.P.S. Two more things...most of the pictures are more of the kids making funny faces than actually eating...just realized that. Guess I can get un-excited about them 'actually eating.' haha AND also, notice that James is wearing a hat at the table. I point it out because it is, yes, I know, not in accordance with proper manners. To which I say...yes, perhaps but if you think I am going to waste my parental energy on battles like that at this point, you are so very wrong. I could write about a hundred books on things that are more important. And also, I point it out because the kids just got these hats from their Aunt Melissa and LOVE THEM. James has attempted to play, sleep, and (as you see) eat in his. To which I say...more power to him. :)
(Reminds me of my brother when he was in elementary school...sleep, swim, whatever...he had his hat on.)

P.P.P.P.S.
That's all.
