Craftiness

Our summer has been taken over by craftiness in the last week or so.
Some is ongoing craftiness. Some is just-for-fun one-afternoon craftiness.
To review . . .

In the category of ongoing craftiness we have the playroom. I had gotten used to the idea that by the time we were done with the playroom our kids would likely be too old for a playroom.
Okay, not really. But I knew that, with this project, we were in it for the long haul. And it was okay. BUT, things have really picked up recently and it has been wonderful! We are getting closer to being done! It is a good feeling.
On this particular day, JC was putting up fans and doing a little painting, I believe.
But that doesn't mean we don't have rest time.
Very few things ever mean we don't have rest time.
But since everything was everywhere and the floor was a mess, we got creative and stacked the boys up on the couch on the humongous bean bags.

They loved it.

While all the hoopla was going on during the morning, Bethany built herself a little fort right in the middle of it all. Pretty crafty if you ask me! We let her go ahead and reside in it for much of the afternoon.
Every kid needs a fort.
...I think I would like a fort...

She was certainly comfy enough!

While we have been enjoying the playroom transformation, we took a break for a day this last Saturday. Us girls headed over to my parents' house to spend the day with my mom, sisters, and even my visiting Aunt Cheryl! We had little crafty, sewing projects for each of us needing to be worked on so we decided it was time for a Crafternoon. Yes, Crafternoon. This is what we call it when we get together for crafting time. Usually in the afternoon. This time it spanned most of the day but...we had a lot of stuff to work on. And/or a lot of hanging out together to do.
Anyway.
It was great.

The first thing Bethany did when we got there was spend some time with Aunt Katie and her ipad. They made silly faces and enjoyed themselves immensely.

The next thing she did, she had been waiting to do for a loooong while.
She met her new cousin!
Bethany, meet Cynthia.
Cynthia, meet Bethany.

Then she did this.
And that's all she really wanted to do for the rest of the day.

She watched her little cousin make faces in her sleep.

And admired the necklace she had made especially for her.
It was very lovely.

A while later, I discovered Bethany with her Aunt Katie, enjoying a viewing of Lady and the Tramp 2.

Sufficiently cozy.

...but eventually, it did come back to this.

Cynthia slept the whole time. Bethany watched her, admired her, and kissed her.
It was so sweet.

She had been so patient while the rest of us worked on random projects, Bethany finally got a turn! Grandma Trudie decided that it would be a good time for her first experience at a sewing machine!

She caught on rather quickly, with help from Grandma!

She worked on a little blanket for her dolls! So precious!

Such an awesome finished project!
This might have been her favorite part of the day . . .

. . . but . . .
there was some pretty intense competition for that title.

It was a great day.
It was a great week!

In other news I would like to count as crafty - -

We found this amazing new snack.
I made it, the kids ate it.
This rarely happens.
I loved it.
I want them again. Now.
Chewy granola balls. They will change your life. I will be posting the recipe at some point soon!

In less creative, but still crafty, news...
We made chocolate chip cookies yesterday.
And that is all.
Time to get crafty again and help my husband paint in the playroom.

The End.
