Bethany's Spa Party!

It's a big week around here.
Which is one of the reasons I have decided that if I ever want to catch up on this blogging thing, I need to just start logging what we are doing now...and going back to the rest later.
But that's a whole other thing.

The big week.

There is a lot going on, not the least of which is Bethany's EIGHTH birthday.
Eighth.

Let's talk about that.

She is almost eight.
This is killing me.

Good talk.

We started up celebration mode last night with a spa party with quite a lot of her little friends!
Here's how it went down:

Having an artsy sister living with you provides many bonuses.
This weekend, those bonuses came in sign form.
This is what greeted our guests as they arrived and got comfy with their complimentary color coded water bottles and face towels.

While we waited for the whole group to assemble, guests took advantage of the relaxation area.

AKA all the throw pillows from all over my whole house piled together.
But they liked it.

Once we had most of our guests in attendance, (out of 21 invites sent out, 19 came! It was amazing.)
Bethany did a quick intro of everyone to everyone.

So many friends!

Then the good stuff.

 Massage circle!

We had some fantastic helpers in the form of Grandma Trudie and Aunts Monica and Laura.
Here, Grandma and Monica are willing participants!

Next up, we had some fun stations to rotate through.

We had facials, complete with chocolate masks and cucumber eyes!

To keep mess at bay, we applied the mask sparingly haha. But they still loved it!

And yes...that is chocolate.
Yogurt, honey, and cocoa powder.
Who knew?

We also had nail polish musical chairs.
This one was the cutest idea.
Whether it was as cute in execution, you would have to ask Aunt Laura.
The girls circled the table and when the music stopped, polished one nail with the color they landed in front of. We got a lot of interesting looking hands from this activity.

But they had fun!

Qualifying as our most zen station, there was yoga by Aunt Monica.
This picture makes me so happy.
And it's the only one I got because I didn't want to interrupt the quiet solitude.
And also because I was running the facials station and there was chocolate and cucumbers everywhere.
But this is great.

The other station was smoothie making and I did not manage to get up to the kitchen to take pictures! Sad day. But I hear they were yummy and the girls did great! Thanks to Grandma Trudie for taking this on!

Present time!
I always forget to schedule present time in.
But it all worked out.
Can't go wrong with present time.

Except for the part where it can get kind of boring for those not actually receiving presents.
Luckily there were fish to entertain.

We had cucumber sandwiches, pb&j, carrots, grapes and lemonade out on the balcony.
The weather is always awesome for Bethany's birthday.

After some crazy outside playtime, we finished out the evening with popcorn and a movie!
Barbie in A Fashion Fairytale was a perfect fit.
It was a little intense for a while but we all knew the misunderstanding would get worked out in the end.
Ken would seriously never break up with Barbie via text.

As we bid our guests farewell, we sent them off with a fun little treat.
You are looking at marshmallows dipped in icing (colored with jello powder) and tootsie rolls.
Made to look like nail polish.
If you can't tell.

First of all, they were way yummy.
Second of all OH MY GOSH I TOTALLY DIDN'T THINK THEY WOULD ACTUALLY TURN OUT.
Haha, thank you pinterest.
(And Monica, for helping to make them!)

The whole party was a lot of fun and even though I'm pretty sure that every time we throw a party I could qualify for both clinical exhaustion and dehydration by the end of the day, it is so fun to see the kids having a blast.  It is such a blessing to know Bethany has so many great friends surrounding her. She is lucky to have them and we are lucky to have her!
Now to gear up for the week ahead of us...this is only the beginning! :)
