8 is Great! - Bethany's Birthday

We had a lot of celebrations for Bethany's birthday this year! After her party last weekend, we still had a couple of special days to look forward to, including her actual birthday!

We get to share treats with the kids' classrooms on their birthdays. Bethany wanted sugar cookies with the yummy jello frosting that we had made the weekend before for her party treats. We ran out of time the evening before, so she and I got up early to frost some sugar cookies!
And sprinkle them.
It was a fun time.

They turned out pretty great!

Just a bit later, the boys joined us and we had the ever-nutritious breakfast of donuts.
I couldn't help it, it was her birthday.
James didn't mind either, as you can see.

Cute, happy girl.

She let me fix her hair that morning, it was fun.

It was a fun day for her at school! It was "I Love to Read" week so I had the chance to visit and read to the kids' classes during the week. I got to go to her class on her birthday and we read a Dr. Seuss book about a horse show...perfect for her. :)

When she got home, it was straight to present-opening!

We got her a super fun rainbow skirt and luckily she liked it as much as I had!

Then, a special gift from us...

Her own set of scriptures!

Complete with her name on them!

The most fun came when she got a new pink scooter from her brothers!

She tried it out right away, of course!

The boys...even the grown-up one...joined her.

After playing outside for a fun while, we ended our evening with dinner at nearby Freddy's. Delicious steakburgers (though, really, we all ended up having fish for the most part) and sundaes were a great birthday dinner and treat! It was one of the evenings that, once a month, Freddy's gives a percentage of their earnings to the kids' elementary school. So, there were lots of fun friends around to play with and the kids had a blast.
It was a simple day of celebration but there was still lots to look forward to...not the least of which was her baptism day that Saturday!
