And although I was at the tail-end of a stomach bug and at the very beginning of something that ended up leaving me feverishly overtaken and rendered useless for the past several days, I still maintain that the fresh air was just what we needed.
Bethany had just returned from kindergarten pajama day!
Ben didn't let the rain stop him from getting a good workout in. Using his bike to push another bike.
Bethany found an old water bottle in the garage (because we're neat and tidy like that) and decided it needed refilling.
until...he was just done.
Even after putting on some warming accessories, the grumpiness still managed to set in eventually.
Bethany, however, was not quite done at that point. Still sidewalk chalk to stomp into the ground.
(This picture taken through the railing on the front porch where I had finally collapsed in a heap against the house.)
James captured this moment well for all to see.
At this point, the kids started fighting over the camera.
As you can imagine, getting your picture snapped by someone who just managed to steal the camera from you feels rather insulting.
And, as I was busy stumbling around finding towels and warm clothes to end the afternoon with, I was of no help.

After waging war with the camera, though, the kids managed to snap some more peaceful shots before calling it a day.
And a good one it was.
